Great weekend with the Peterson's

Caleb had his appointment at Vanderbilt in Nashville with the Pediatric Neurologist for the nervous tics that came from nowhere last month and scared us to death. The tics have thankfully stopped and we haven't seen him doing them for 2 or 3 weeks. He has developed severe migrane-like headaches over the past month too though. So we thought it best to keep the appointment, even though the tics had stopped. Especially since it took a month for us to get in to see them. The neurologist checked him out and asked questions for a long time before consulting with her more experienced collegue. That physician also came in and asked more questions. They reassured us that they believe the tics were not anything to worry about, unless they come back more severely and begin to interfere with activities. They thought the blinking that he did last summer (2007) was probably another spell of the tics because they also lasted about 2 weeks. He said we may see another manifestation in the future that should also go away quickly or we may never see them again. The headaches they do not believe are related and are probably migranes. Especially since both Ben and my mom had severe migranes as children, that were bad enough to make them sick or have to lie down. They suggested giving Benedryl when he is having a bad one and he is in a place that he can just lie down and sleep it off. We were relieved to get a good report and I know many of you have been thinking of him as well in the past month or so. I didn't want to say too much before the appointment because I didn't want to jinx anything. But thought I'd give a brief update for you guys who have sent e-mails, prayers, and kind words towards Caleb.

After the appointment, we headed to Bowling Green for a visit with Ben's parents. We had a really fun weekend. Saturday morning Uncle Kevin took the boys to the park and had some quality Uncle-time, while Donna and I went shopping. We had fun buying shoes, blue jeans, socks, and Halloween shirts for the boys. We got back home in time for Jim, Lori, and the girls to arrive. The boys were so excited to play with their cousins.

Legos-everyone's favorite at Memaw and Pepaw's.

We took them to Jackson's Orchard for some festive fall fun. They sat on piles of pumpkins, climbed on hay bales, and ran through a hay fort.

They also rode ponies and went on a hay ride before we were all exhausted and hot! Poor Uncle Kevin was close to an asthma attack from all of the hay. He was snotting and sneezing the rest of the day.

Cody thought he was so big!

Caleb was so excited to ride the pony.

That evening Donna had planned a weinie roast with her new fire pit. Great fun was had by all around the campfire. We roasted some dogs and marshmallows, sitting around enjoying the night. Donna had made some absolutely scrumptious apple dumplings that were heaven!!! Yummy!

The men roasting some serious dogs.

Caleb's favorite...marshmallows- roasted, plain, smores, anyway you make them.

Memaw making sure Abbi's marshmallow is roasting well.
It was a great relaxing weekend. Well needed after the sick fest we had going on last week. On our way home, Mom and Bill met us in Eddyville. They were riding back on the bike from a bed and breakfast in Missouri for Bill's birthday. We visited for awhile at Willow Pond and had some catfish, beans, coleslaw, and hushpuppies. Mmm good!

Glad you had a good weekend. You all needed the break. And again great news about Caleb. Glad that is not a serious worry. It was good to see you guys again.
